IB MIDDLE YEARS PROGRAMME
IB MYP: What is it?
An education that is grounded in the more progressive educational thinking of the time but also in the belief that the world could be made better through an education that focused on concepts, ideas, and issues that crossed disciplinary, cultural, national, and geographical boundaries.
The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) is a natural progression for the project-based approach at TNS Beaconhouse. IB MYP provides a framework of academic challenges for students from 11 to 16 years of age. These academic challenges rooting from the progressive educational thinking encourages the students to embrace and understand the connections between theory and practice focusing on ‘learning by doing’ hence providing them with opportunities to develop their potential, to explore their own learning preferences, to take appropriate risks, and to reflect on, and develop, a strong sense of personal identity in local and global contexts.

MYP Personal Project
As the culminating event for students in the Middle Years Programme, the Personal Project holds a place of special importance. The MYP Personal Project encourages students to reflect on their learning and the outcomes of their work - which are key skills that prepare them for success in further study, the workplace and the community. The aims of the MYP Personal Project are to encourage and enable students to:

Participate in a sustained, self-directed inquiry within a global context.
Generate creative new insights and develop a deeper understanding through in-depth investigation
Demonstrate the skills, attitudes, and knowledge required to complete a project over an extended period of time.
Communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
Demonstrate responsible action through, or as a result of, learning.
Appreciate the process of learning and take pride in their accomplishments.
