Why complete the Personal Project?
The Personal Project allows students to participate in a sustained, self-directed study of a topic of their choosing. Through the Personal Project, students are able to generate new insights and see how their efforts can lead to significant learning. The process encourages students to build their independent thinking skills and communicate effectively with a variety of people.

Students completing the Personal Project also have a great opportunity to reflect on their experiences on their college application or through a job interview. The project shows a student's ability to persevere and think independently.

The Personal Project is also required for completing the MYP Certification.

How do students choose a topic?
Students have the freedom to choose a topic that is important to them in some way: some students connect their topic to their family, some students link their project to a passion or cause, and some students pursue an opportunity related to learning from school.

What does the project entail?
Choose a topic
Define a realistic goal
Create a plan of action
Evaluate resources as you research your topic
Create your product
Reflect on your experience and your product

How are projects evaluated?
Students present their projects to a panel of mentors, teachers, and administrators during their adjudication. The panel will listen to the presentation, then ask follow-up questions regarding the learning process.
